NEW MOTOCYCLES FOR PARISHES
SUPPORTED BY CHURCH IN NEED.
Most parishes in Arua Diocese have several chapels and zones in hard to reach parts of the West Nile Region of Uganda. Poor road quality and weak transport infrastructure in these parishes make it very difficult for the priests to reach Christians in their different Chapels and Zones.
The best solution we found is to equip Priests who are in the remote rural villages with at least a motorcycle that will enable them reach out to the Christians for meetings, workshops, seminars, school animation, youth camps and other pastoral works.
A new motorcycle, Honda XL 125, will support parishes in running their pastoral programmes.
On 8th November 2021, Four Brand new Honda motorcycles were Purchased from Honda Uganda Limited, Kampala main Store. The Four motorcycles were transported to Arua District on the 9th November 2021 by YY Transporters and ridden to the Bishops Residence by Fr. Gabriel Nyaku were they are currently packed waiting for official hand-over to the parishes that need them.
The Project Officer Mr.Hannes Urban and the Project team handed over the first Motorbike with plate number UFL139C to the Parish Priest of Lugbari Parish Fr.Gabriel Nyaku on the 15th of November 2021. This was after the Sunday morning Holy Mass Celebration at the Parish with the Christians of Lugbari.
The motorcycle will be property of the diocese of Arua, governed by the rules and regulations of the Diocese Transport Policy. In a nut shell , it will be owned by the registered trustees of the Diocese of Arua.
